Job Description

First Cook – Lake O’Hara Lodge (Backcountry, Yoho NP)

Seasonal | June 1-October 5 | Live on site

Lake O’Hara Lodge is a remote, backcountry lodge in Yoho National Park, accessible only by shuttle or on foot. No roads. Few day-trippers. Just mountains, lakes, long days, and a tight-knit team that lives and works together all season.

We’re looking for a First Cook to join our kitchen team for the 2026 season.

This is a hands-on role for someone who loves good food, thrives in a close community, and understands that how you show up with people matters just as much as what’s on the plate.

The Role

As First Cook, you’ll work closely with our chefs to help execute daily service, support the team, and keep things running smoothly behind the scenes. You’ll be deeply involved in prep, service, and day-to-day kitchen flow, including leading a team of two during morning shifts.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Supporting daily prep and service for guests and staff

  • Working closely with the chefs on execution, consistency, and flow

  • Helping maintain cleanliness, organization, and food safety standards

  • Jumping in wherever needed — this is a true team kitchen

  • Living on site and contributing positively to staff culture

What We’re Looking For

  • Solid kitchen experience and a strong work ethic

  • A positive, collaborative attitude (this matters more than fancy techniques)

  • Comfort living and working on site in a remote environment

  • Ability to handle long days, changing plans, and a fast-moving season

  • FoodSafe certification (or willingness to obtain before the season)

The Details

  • Season: June 1 to October 8

  • Schedule: 6 days on / 1 day off

  • Pay: approx. $5,900/month

  • Room & board: provided on site, $475/month

  • Accommodation: private room
