Job Description

A collection of heritage-driven, neighbourhood-centric hotels.

Archive Hospitality Group began with a mission: Revitalize architectural landmarks as vibrant places that anchor and contribute to the community. We reimagine historic buildings deeply rooted in their location and welcome travelers and locals alike to share memorable experiences. From the people and places we encounter to the connections we make; we aim to create space for all. We strive to bring the same level of quality, commitment, and dedication we give to our properties to the Archive Team.

Introducing Cassette:
We’re thrilled to be opening our newest outlet—Cassette, located within Gladstone House on Queen West. Cassette is an elevated, retro-inspired diner and live venue offering nostalgic classics with modern flair, paired with nightly programming like live music, karaoke, and more. Whether it’s a show night or a spontaneous visit, Cassette is a come-as-you-are kind of place, and we’re building a team that reflects that same energy: creative, collaborative, and plugged in.

Position: First Cook

The Role at a Glance: This position plays a key role within our kitchen at Cassette. We are looking for cooks who are passionate about food and thrive in a fast-paced, communal atmosphere with a creative pulse. You’ll get to work alongside culinary leaders while contributing to a menu that blends retro comfort with refined execution.

Responsibilities:
Execute dishes to the highest standards, following established recipes and plating specifications.

Maintain impeccable station organization, ensuring all mise en place is prepped and stored correctly.

Work cleanly and efficiently, following proper food handling and safety protocols.
Assist in receiving and storing deliveries, ensuring product quality and adherence to inventory systems.

Participate in daily cleaning duties and deep cleaning tasks as part of the team’s responsibilities.

Work cohesively with fellow line cooks, prep cooks, and the events team to ensure smooth service across all kitchen operations.

Communicate effectively with the Chef de Cuisine, Sous Chefs, and BOH team to maintain a smooth, professional kitchen environment.

Execute banquet/event menus with precision when scheduled for event shifts.
Comply with all Archive standards, policies and procedures at all times.

Other tasks and responsibilities as assigned by management—because we all pitch in to keep the show going.

Qualifications:
Minimum 2 years of experience in a professional kitchen (fine dining, high-end bistro, or high-volume hotel experience preferred).

A passion for culinary arts and a flair for creating familiar dishes with a twist.
Knowledge of food safety standards (Food Safe Level 1 preferred).

Willingness to work flexible schedules based on programming—think evening shifts, weekend crowds, and late-night karaoke rushes.

Physical ability to meet the demands of the role (standing, bending, lifting up to 35 lbs).

Room to Grow: We are expanding to new locations and the right candidate could see opportunities to not only grow within the business, but work in new and exciting places. We have a wide array of roles, and always prefer to recruit from within, putting team members in the best position to advance their careers

What We Offer: A fun and fast-paced environment; casual and flexible work environment. We are committed to delivering exceptional service and making every guest experience a memorable one. Competitive salary, incentive & benefits.

Inclusivity: Our team fosters a culture of inclusion and belonging for both team members and guests. We celebrate diversity, collaboration and uniqueness.
