Job Description

The Vibe
FUNK Coffee Bar (by House of Funk Roasting) is a high-energy, specialty-focused space in the heart of downtown Vancouver. We aren’t just serving coffee; we are building a community focused on technical excellence and zero pretension. We are looking for a Kitchen Lead who treats the kitchen like their own: someone proactive, organized, and ready to take full ownership of our food program.

The Role
This is a unique opportunity for a "solo-lead." While you won’t have a full team under you immediately, you will be the heart of our Back-of-House (BOH) operations. You’ll be responsible for:

* Total Ownership: Overseeing daily BOH operations, ensuring consistent food quality, and maintaining a high standard of cleanliness.


* Creative Execution: Executing our existing menu (pastries, sandwiches, salads) while collaborating on new specials and menu designs.


* Business Savvy: Managing inventory, ordering with suppliers, and staying accountable for food COGs and waste.


* Communication: Acting as the bridge between the kitchen and the FOH team to ensure smooth service and updated 86 items.


What You Bring
* Experience: 1+ years of kitchen experience, ideally with some management or lead responsibilities.


* Proactive Mindset: You are self-motivated and don't need to be told what needs doing next.


* Technical Skills: Active Food Safe certification and experience with inventory/ordering systems.


* Cool Under Pressure: You can handle the downtown lunch rush while maintaining emotional control and attention to detail.


* Availability: Morning and daytime availability (Monday–Friday), with the occasional evening for special events.
