Sumu Restaurant is an innovative dining concept focused on revolutionizing the restaurant experience through creativity, culture, technology, and community. We are looking for a skilled and passionate Sushi Chef to join our culinary team at our downtown Vancouver location. If you take pride in your craft, work well in a fast paced environment, and are passionate about delivering high quality food and presentation, we would love to meet you.

Responsibilities

• Prepare sushi, sashimi, rolls, and other Japanese dishes with consistency and attention to detail

• Maintain high standards of food quality, freshness, and presentation

• Ensure proper food handling, sanitation, and kitchen safety standards

• Assist with inventory management and ingredient preparation

• Work efficiently during busy service periods while maintaining quality

• Collaborate with kitchen and front of house teams to deliver an exceptional dining experience

• Keep workstations clean, organized, and fully stocked

• Support menu development and creative dish ideas when needed

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of sushi chef experience required

• Strong knife skills and knowledge of sushi preparation techniques

• Understanding of food safety and sanitation standards

• Ability to work in a fast paced and team oriented environment

• Strong attention to detail and consistency

• Professional attitude and strong work ethic

• Positive energy and passion for hospitality

• Flexible availability including evenings and weekends
