OPOORTUNITY OVERVIEW

We are looking for Assistant Catering Services Manager, holds the second-in-command position within the Banquet department. You are responsible to oversee and assist with the setup, service, and cleanup of all banquet functions. This role includes delegating tasks and responsibilities to all Banquet staff, including Banquet Captains. The position is responsible for reviewing staffing, assisting with scheduling to ensure all events are adequately staffed and supported for successful execution. Ensuring all event-related duties, including daily opening and closing procedures, are completed to the Club standards. The Club looks for career focused professionals that are excited to experience all this industry has to offer.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Know the Club standards of service, including all settings and types of service. 
  • Assist Catering Services Manager and Catering Department with the execution of Banquet and Club events.   
  • Complete familiarity and knowledge of the Catering package. 
  • Hold pre-function meetings, and check staffing and menus, prior to events. 

  • Requisition liquor for all banquet bars and maintain proper control over banquet beverage service.
  • Inspect the set-up of meetings and banquet functions, checking them against the Banquet Event Order.                                
  • Assist in set up of audio/visual, as necessary 
  • Maintain common areas at all times, such as washrooms, hallways, lighting, and drapes.
  • Supervise and assist with the set-up of assigned catered functions, ensuring that the Club’s standards are met, and advance preparation for service is adequate to allow the set up to be in place in advance of the function occurring.  
  • Act as liaison between Catering /Housekeeping/Kitchen/Management/Stewards/ Concierge, and the event host. 
  • Supervise all banquet staff, as directed by Catering Services Manager. 
  • Assign side-work duties and stations to all servers. 


  • Monitor ongoing functions throughout the assigned shift. 

  • Coordinate and provide efficient service to our guests once a function begins and throughout. Assist in service of functions as required.
  • Respond to guests' needs in a timely manner. Communicate problems/issues to the Catering Service manager or appropriate department manager.
  • Supervise and assist with the breakdown after the completion of functions to ensure that all equipment and supplies are stored properly. 

  • Inspect the sanitation of all function space and storage areas to maintain the highest standard of cleanliness and organization throughout the department. 
  • Follow all state liquor laws. 
  • Review the department schedule as required by the Catering Services Manager and have scheduling authority in the absence of the Catering Services Manager.
  • Review and approve timesheets in a timely manner in the absence of the Catering Services Manager. 
  • Perform all other duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Hospitality Management Diploma or equivalent required. 
  • Minimum 5 years experience in Food and Beverage Service 
  • Minimum 2-3 years leadership experience
  • Computer Knowledge (MS Excel, MS Word)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Leadership skills to motivate and develop the team. 
  • Demonstrate superior customer service philosophy
  • Will be required to maintain a flexible work schedule including evenings, weekends and holidays.
  • Must have Serving it Right
  • Must have FOODSAFE level 1
  • WSET level 2 or greater an asset.
