Blacksmith Bakery: Fort Langley Store Manager
Position Summary
The Store Manager oversees daily café operations and leads the team to deliver exceptional service, product quality, and hospitality that reflect Blacksmith Bakery’s standards. This is a hands-on, on the floor, leadership role that supports all departments: Front of House, Pastry, Culinary, and Dish - while ensuring the café runs efficiently, cleanly, and professionally at all times.

Key ResponsibilitiesTeam Leadership & Culture

Lead, motivate, and support Front of House staff to uphold the highest standards of service, and deliver top notch hospitality while enthusiastically driving sales via passion selling.

Train, coach, and develop team members and Shift Captains through ongoing testing, feedback and mentorship.

Oversee onboarding and training of new hires.

Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and professionalism

Conduct performance reviews and support disciplinary actions alongside the General Manager
Daily Operations

Oversee all opening, closing, and supervisor routines to ensure consistency and efficiency.

We are a counter service café so the cashier role is key for guest interaction and hospitality opportunities. Basics include taking guests’ orders at POS, processing payment and delivering food and beverages to guests.

High level barista role (an asset but we will train) – confident in operating espresso machines, including grind procedures, dialing shots, trouble shooting bar issues, latte art, correct steaming milk procedures etc.

Delegate duties and keep the team focused and productive throughout the shift

Assign cleaning or secondary tasks during slower periods to maintain standards.

Continually monitor the floor to ensure tables are cleared, spaces are clean, and the café is guest-ready at all times.

Ensure regular (at least hourly) bathroom checks are conducted and overall cleanliness standards are maintained.

Stay actively present on the floor to support service flow and guest experience
Guest Experience

Ensure every guest is welcomed and served according to Blacksmith Bakery hospitality standards.

Resolve customer concerns promptly and professionally, escalating to the General Manager when necessary.

Maintain a warm, positive, and solution-focused approach to service recovery.
Product & Quality Control

Monitor all food, pastry, and beverage presentation to ensure company standards are consistently met.

Oversee showcase cleanliness, organization, rotation and full stocking at all times.

Submit showcase photos at designated times.

Communicate any product or quality issues promptly with Pastry and Culinary leadership and escalate to GM/Owners when necessary.
Inventory & Ordering

Manage Front of House ordering and vendor relationships.

Coordinate with Culinary and Pastry teams to maintain adequate stock of supplies, paper goods, cleaning products, and service items.
Scheduling & Administration

Manage staff schedules, approve shift swaps, and cover sick calls while controlling labor costs and avoiding overtime.

Complete opening and closing cash routines (Managers, Assistant Managers, and Shift Captains only).

Communicate professionally through all channels and stay current with management updates (including WhatsApp and email threads).

Escalate operational issues to the General Manager or Ownership as needed.
Training & Programs

Assist with implementation of company initiatives and training programs, including the 30% Hospitality Training Program.

Support ongoing product knowledge testing and service training and maintain team excellence.
Compensation and Perks

$24-$28/ Hour plus Tips (usually $2-$4/hr)
