Overview:

The Manager, Events & Communications manages all corporate and community special events for United Way Halton & Hamilton to support the achievement of corporate and community special events targets, goals and objectives as outlined in the departmental and strategic plans.
Responsibilities
- Manage all corporate and community special events in each of the communities United Way serves, including coordinating delivery partners for event planning, site visits, event set-up, day-of-delivery requirements and tear-down
- Collaborate with the Resource Development team to determine appropriate follow up plans and strategies to help support revenue generation goals for the organization
- Participate in the development of operational and cross-functional critical paths and timelines for all engagement communications and events such as community consultations, impact presentations, community and fundraising events
- Participate in the development and implementation of stakeholder engagement communications
- Manage the preparation of stakeholder marketing materials (ads, programs, banners) for use across multiple channels, engaging delivery partners as required
- Collaborate with the Marketing & Communications Digital Media Manager to determine appropriate social media promotion strategy for events
- Track community engagement activities and assist with securing the organizations selected sponsorship target annually
- Maintain sponsorship contact and packages collection records for recognition purposes
- Manage annual community events calendar to ensure minimal interference with competing or complimentary events
- Actively promote United Way Halton & Hamilton events by posting to local publications and working with local chambers and community organizations to help increase attendance
- Support the Marketing and Communications team on other assignments and activities as required
Qualifications
- Minimum 1-3 years of post-secondary experience coordinating events in a fast-paced environment
- Minimum 1-3 years of experience developing strong stakeholder relations through events-related activities
- Strong awareness and intuition in the internal and external communications environments
- Excellent project management skills
- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel)
- Meetings / Events certification an asset (e.g. Meeting Professionals International, Certified Meeting Planner)
- Experience in the nonprofit sector an asset
