Job Description

We are seeking an experienced General Manager to join our team here at The Vancouver Club.

The ideal candidate will have a passion for hospitality, a proven track record of strong leadership, and a dedication to delivering outstanding results. Reporting to the Board of Directors, through the President of the Board of Directors, the General Manager will be responsible for ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the Club, ensuring high standards of quality are maintained at all times, effectively managing and leading staff, and driving revenue growth. The General Manager should be highly effective in a leadership role that requires professional public speaking, clear communication, and accountability as the voice and face of the organization.

Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

- Provide leadership, management, and motivation to the management team and staff.

- Control and coordinate the operations and activities of the Club - foster the best use of facilities in the interest of Club members, and to encourage their usage.

- Work to achieve annual operating objectives and Annual Operating Plans, ensuring that the plans are linked into the overall long-term strategy of the organisation.

- Seek out and pursue opportunities for improved cost, quality of operation, customer service, and financial performance.

- Be accountable for the bottom-line - manage the financial aspects of the Club and ensure that budgets are being adhered to.

- Continue to find creative ways and means to increase Club usage by members thereby increasing revenues to the Club.

- Review the performance of the management staff to assure the accomplishment of approved objectives, plans and strategies.

- Develop and implement an organizational framework which is consistent with the established objectives, and which will enhance the operating effectiveness and efficiencies of the Club.

- Select and develop the necessary management talent to support the organisation to achieve its future goals.

- Provide the leadership to the appropriate managers and committees to facilitate the development and implementation of more comprehensive and innovative programs.

- Interact with members; listen and respond to customer and member needs.

- Execute and implement contracts. policies. programs, and initiatives as approved by the Board of Directors.

- Continue to increase revenues and profit from the Food and Beverage operation, including private functions. Examine and recommend approaches to increased usage of the Dining Rooms.

- Continue the initiatives to increase the membership, and support members recruiting members.

- Support the overall operating objectives, plan, and budgets; implement and monitor the plan.

- Provide strategic direction and prepare strategic plans.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILL REQUIREMENTS

- Proven experience in a similar role, preferably in a private club environment
- Minimum of 10 years of leadership and management experience
- Excellent communication skills, must be strong at public speaking and presenting
- Excellent organizational and time-management abilities
- A passion for hospitality and dedication to providing exceptional customer service
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and in a fast-paced environment
- Knowledge of food and beverage trends and industry best practices
- Ability to identify, develop, and capitalize on business opportunities
- Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, motivate, and develop a team while holding them accountable
- Strong change management skills with the ability to execute a plan
- Passionate and approachable team player who inspires
- Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management or related field preferred
- Master's degree in Business Administration
