We are currently seeking a SOUS CHEF to join our dynamic team at dynamic team at COAST Restaurant on Alberni Street. CATCH. COOK. EAT. A true west coast dining experience.

The term 'sous chef' comes from the French for 'under-chef’, but we prefer working hand in hand with the Executive Chef. The Sous Chef assists the Executive Chef with the day-to-day functions of running a well-organized kitchen, in addition to other managerial responsibilities such as tracking inventory, ordering produce and maintaining health and safety standards in the kitchen.

KEY REQUIREMENTS:

· 5 years minimum experience in a similar position and environment

· Foodsafe certified (within 1 week of employment)

· Certification of culinary training or apprenticeship, Red Seal certificate is an asset

· Must have a passion for the business and a love of food

· Solid leadership and motivational skills

· Ability to prioritize, organize and follow through as necessary

· Capacity to work well under pressure, meeting production schedules and timelines for service

· Ability to communicate in English

· Long periods of standing and walking is required

· Must have physical stamina to lift moderate amounts of weight
