You’re expected to pull your weight at this location, but the effort definitely pays off especially during the busy summer months when tips are excellent.

Jack’s on Front provides plenty of hours and a fast-paced, high energy environment that will test you both emotionally and physically (summer months especially). During rushes from nearby games and shows, things can get hectic, so strong teamwork and reliability are key. Management values consistency and collaboration, so it’s important to demonstrate that early on or they will fire you.

At times, some team members can be a bit challenging or unkind under pressure, but it’s best to stay professional, rise above the negativity, and focus on your own performance and earnings potential.

Summer season makes the job well worth it, with great opportunities to pick up extra shifts and earn strong income. However, winters tend to be very slow, and shifts are much harder to secure, so it’s definitely a seasonal workplace. I made excellent money working here.

Jack Astors at Square One is an iconic location for anyone who grew up in Mississauga. As a host, I went through a training program which taught me strong basics of service which allowed me to get to where I am today. A typical day included making a plan for reservations, and then leading guests to their tables and alerting servers about a new table in their section. Management at the time was great, understanding, and willing to teach.
