Job Description:
The Prep Cook plays a key role in a restaurant kitchen by preparing ingredients and supporting line cooks and chefs in meal preparation. This position ensures consistent food quality and kitchen efficiency by following recipes, maintaining cleanliness, and keeping food storage areas organized.
Key Responsibilities:
-Prepare and portion ingredients according to restaurant recipes (e.g., chopping vegetables, cutting meats, preparing sauces).
-Assist with basic cooking tasks such as grilling, sautéing, and baking as needed.
-Set up workstations and ingredients before the start of each shift.
-Properly label, date, and store food items in compliance with health regulations.
-Maintain a clean and organized prep area, including sanitizing surfaces and equipment.
-Follow all food safety and sanitation standards at all times.
-Cook lunch service in a high volume kitchen enviroment
Qualifications:
-Previous experience as a prep cook or in a restaurant kitchen preferred but not required.
-Basic understanding of cooking techniques and kitchen equipment.
-Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions and recipes.
-Good communication and teamwork skills.
-Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
-Must be able to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
