Unionville College has a great opportunity for a skilled take charge cook to be our Cafeteria Coordinator/Cook and join our expanding community at our Stouffville campus.
The successful candidate will have a passion and pride for delighting people with food, and cooking with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced school environment.
In this role you will:
Oversee all cafeteria kitchen operations including but not limited to food prep, cooking, inventory management and serving 150 students.
Design and prepare weekly menu adhering to school policy as it relates to student dietary needs and/or restrictions.
Responsible to order/maintain/receive inventory and create an inventory management system for kitchen supplies, ensuring sufficient stock levels.
Design, create, review and update menu options for students with adherence to specific student dietary needs and/or restrictions.
Ensure the safe storage and disposal of food and beverages.
Maintain cleanliness of food services area, equipment/utensils
Ensure preparation and cooking stations are stocked appropriately.
Notify Leadership Team of any repairs or maintenance required for kitchen appliances and equipment.
Enforce proper sanitation and preparation practices and procedures.
Develop and maintain policies and procedures relating to kitchen coordination.
Adhere to and enforce school policies.
Knowledge and Experience:
Post-Secondary diploma in Culinary Arts or Hospitality considered an asset.
Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent
1 to 3 years’ experience in food handling and food preparation
Kitchen supervisor experience considered an asset.
Successfully completed Food Handlers Certificate
Experience within a school setting considered an asset.
Knowledge of dietary needs for students with severe food allergies
You have excellent organizational, time-management, communication and customer service skills.
Working Conditions:
Ability to work independently and under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to stand for long periods of time and perform physical work.
Exceptional knife handling skills
Comply with all Health and Safety requirements including the use of personal protective equipment as required.
Ability to lift up to 50lbs.
Additional
Will be subject to a police vulnerable sector check.
Monday to Friday (with exception of statutory and designated school holidays)
8-hour shift
