Pastry Cook (Retail Locations: Fort Langley or Latimer Village)

Blacksmith Bakery is excited to expand our team! We are hiring Pastry Cooks and Junior Bakers for all our locations, with flexible shifts to fit your schedule. Join us and work alongside an experienced kitchen team and a master Pastry Chef, creating exceptional baked goods using the finest ingredients.

Position Requirements:

• Strong knowledge of pastry and baking techniques

• Experience in dessert production

• Basic math skills for measurements and count-offs

Education & Certifications:

• Pastry education required

• Current Enrollment or completion of RED SEAL certification program through Skilled Trades is an asset

• Level 1 Food Safe or Safe Food Handling Certificate

Physical Requirements:

• Able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs safely

• Must be able to stand for extended periods

• Comfortable working in warm conditions around baking equipment
  
  

Pastry Cook Responsibilities:

• Ensure all menu items meet Blacksmith Bakery’s high standards

• Assist with training new pastry staff in prep, line service, stocking, cleaning, and equipment maintenance

• Maintain and clean all kitchen equipment; report any issues to the Manager

• Accurately order supplies from vendors (e.g., Snowcap, Sysco) to ensure proper stock

• Maintain pastry stock and ensure showcases are fully stocked

• Complete all opening, closing, and deep-cleaning duties

• Maintain inventory for all kitchen items, including food, equipment, and paper products

Communicate professionally with the Head Pastry Chef, Head Chef, Store Manager, and ownership regarding any issues

Position Details

• Schedule: Sunday- Thursday, 5:00 AM – 1:00 PM (flexibility required based on business needs)

• Enrollment in Sun Life Benefits Program following completion of 3-month probationary period
