Job Description
Casa Loma are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Cooks to join our team. This role is responsible for preparing, cooking, and presenting food for banquets, weddings, conferences, and other large-scale events. This role works closely with the Chef’s and kitchen team to ensure meals are prepared efficiently, consistently, and according to established recipes, quality standards, and food safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare ingredients and cook menu items for banquet and catered events.
- Follow standardized recipes, portion controls, and presentation guidelines.
- Assist with the setup, execution, and breakdown of food service.
- Ensure food is prepared and served on schedule to meet event timelines.
- Maintain high standards of food quality, taste, and appearance.
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently.
- Monitor food inventory and notify supervisors of shortages.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary work environment.
- Adhere to all food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety procedures.
- Assist with receiving, storing, and rotating food products using FIFO (First In, First Out) practices.
- Support other kitchen operations as needed.
- Other duties as assigned by the manager
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous experience in banquet, catering, hotel, restaurant, or high-volume food production environments preferred.
- Knowledge of food preparation techniques, cooking methods, and kitchen operations.
- Understanding of food safety and sanitation standards.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills.
- Flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
- Must be legally able to work in Canada
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs (23 kg).
- Ability to work in hot, fast-paced kitchen environments.
- Manual dexterity to operate kitchen equipment and prepare food safely.
