Head Chef – Il Corvo, North Shore
Il Corvo is a new Italian restaurant opening on the North Shore in 2025. Rooted in tradition and driven by simplicity, Il Corvo will celebrate handmade pasta, seasonal ingredients, and thoughtful hospitality. We’re on the lookout for a passionate and experienced Head Chef to help shape our kitchen and guide the opening of this new neighbourhood spot.
The Role
As Head Chef, you’ll play a central role in building a skilled culinary team, shaping our menus, and setting the tone for a dynamic, inclusive kitchen. Working closely with ownership, you’ll bring strong leadership, creativity, and a deep respect for ingredients and technique. You’ll also help shape our identity through thoughtful execution, mentorship, and operational excellence.
This position is ideal for someone who wants to take on a leadership role in a values-driven kitchen — and help establish a restaurant that’s built on craftsmanship, collaboration, and community.
What You’ll Be Doing
• Lead Daily Kitchen Operations: Ensure consistency, quality, and execution across every station and service.
• Develop Seasonal Menus: Create dishes rooted in Italian tradition and driven by seasonal, local ingredients.
• Manage Costs & Inventory: Oversee food and labour budgets while maintaining high standards and sustainable practices.
• Train & Mentor Staff: Build a strong, cohesive team through hands-on leadership, development, and coaching.
• Maintain Health & Safety Standards: Ensure a clean, compliant, and organized kitchen at all times.
• Support Restaurant Growth: Collaborate with ownership on business planning, events, and special programming.
Who You Are
• At least 2 years of experience in a Head Chef or senior kitchen leadership role
• Passionate about Italian food and technique (direct experience is a strong asset)
• Confident in leading a team and maintaining a positive kitchen culture
• Skilled in managing costs, scheduling, ordering, and hitting financial targets
• Calm under pressure and solutions-oriented in a busy service setting
• Food Safe Level 1 required; Red Seal or formal culinary education is a plus
Compensation & Benefits
• Salary: $75,000–$95,000 annually
• Bonus: Up to 20% performance-based bonus, paid quarterly
