Job Description

Sandbar is Vancouver’s premier seafood restaurant, celebrated for its fresh, sustainable catches, impeccable service, and elevated guest experience. We are seeking a skilled and highly organized Executive Chef to lead our kitchen team with precision, professionalism, and passion.

Key Responsibilities

Oversee all culinary operations, including production, quality control, plating and presentation, ensuring consistency at high volume.

Maintain the highest standards of food quality, safety and sanitation.

Lead, mentor and coach a strong culinary team, building a culture of professionalism, teamwork and respect.

Manage kitchen budgets, including food and labour costs, vendor relationships and inventory control.

Collaborate with ownership and leadership to execute menus and specials in line with Sandbar’s brand and standards.

Partner closely with the General Manager and head office team to continually elevate Sandbar in alignment with the company’s vision and guest expectations.

Ensure seamless coordination with front-of-house teams to deliver an outstanding guest experience.

What We’re Looking For

A strong culinary background (formal training or Red Seal an asset) with significant experience in upscale seafood or fine dining.

Proven ability to run a high-volume kitchen while maintaining exceptional standards.

A hands-on leader who coaches by example and develops their team.

High drive for excellence, attention to detail and pride in consistent execution.

Sound understanding of cost control, scheduling and procurement.

Experience with inventory and cost-control systems (Optimum Control or similar) would be considered a strong asset.

Strong communication and organizational skills; calm under pressure.

A hospitality- and guest-first attitude, with a commitment to fostering a culture of “Yes!” and ensuring every guest experience is exceptional.
